There are seven residential hostels for boys and eight residential hostels for girls on the campus of the university. The hostels offer all modern amenities for comfortable living for more than 5000 students. All the hostels have wifi facility & CCTV cameras. Limited hostel accommodation is available and it is given on the basis of merit cum distance only. There are two (one for boys and one for the girls) hostels at Guru Kashi Campus, Talwandi Sabo. These two hostels have the accommodation for 392 boys and 250 girls.

Rules Regarding Hostel Accommodation

• Limited Hostel Accommodation is available. It will be given on the basis of merit cum distance only.
• Percentage of allotment to each department is fixed and will be allotted on merit cum distance basis.
• Research scholar will be provided hostel facility on the following basis:
• JRF/SRF will be given preference who has joined in the campus Department.
• Hostel accommodation will be provided for one semester only to the Ph.D. students attending the course work.
• Research scholars can avail hostel facility for four years only. (As per University Calendar rules)
• The schedule/rules of payment of hostel charges/refund/Adjustment will be the same as in the case of tuition fee. In case a student does not pay the hostel charges within the due date, it shall be the responsibility of the Warden to ensure that such a student does not continue to stay/reside in the hostel.
• Once a student is admitted in the hostel, he/she cannot stop paying the hostel rent on the plea that he/she has stopped residing in the hostel. In order to vacate hostel accommodation, the student is required to obtain the prior permission of Warden/Senior Warden/Provost and send a prior intimation to the Accounts Branch of the University, positively.
• If the name of the student is struck off due to non-payment of hostel dues from the list of the hostellers, he can be allowed re-admission with the approval of the Dean Students/Provost.
• Total ten students of low income group can be given rent free accommodation in the University Hostels. In addition to it, five outstanding players and two outstanding students involved in cultural activities can also be given rent free accommodation. In order to exempt above mentioned students from payment of room rent, the committee consisting of the following members will send recommendations through Dean Students to the Vice-Chancellor for approval:
  1. Dean Students Welfare/Provost (Chairman)
  2. Director, Youth Welfare
  3. Director, Sports
  4. One nominee of the Vice-Chancellor.

  The fine for late entry by the girl students will be charged as per rules/decisions in this regard. The rules/decisions framed/taken from time to time will be applicable to all the hostellers. The hostel residents are not allowed to keep four wheelers in the hostels / University Campus.
